In this 2 minute clip, Zach Rhoads and Rick Barnett exercise a form of dialectic called "Steelmanning" (opposite of a strawman argument).
Zach and Dr. Barnett 'met' via social media spat about addiction. But, despite their disagreements, they converged with respect and engaged in a talk in a TV and radio segment.
Zach recognizes that the best way-- perhaps the only way-- to argue effectively is to summarize the other person's perspective to the extent that they agree with your summary (i.e. "steelman"). He does so in this clip.
It turns out, Rhoads and Barnett argue about far less than they thought... A plug for civil engagement!
